About World Informo
The official publication of USO, World Informo, was first launched in 1953 as a quarterly magazine. It continued in this format until 1957, when it transitioned to a monthly publication, featuring updates on USO activities and articles on national and international affairs. Distributed to nearly 76,000 secondary schools across India, it is also available to USO members, UNESCO clubs, and USO information centers at a nominal fee.
World Informo is registered with the Registrar of Newspapers (No. RN 4902/58) and recognised by various state governments, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, and others. By December 1999, 2,414,400 copies had been printed and distributed to schools nationwide. When it evolved into a monthly newsletter, driven by the growing demand for a more frequent platform to engage with a broader audience.
Today, the newsletter reaches over 70,000 schools nationwide, fostering a national community united by shared campaigns, activities, and a commitment to education. More than just a source of information, it serves as a forum for dialogue on socially relevant issues, featuring insightful articles, updates on USO initiatives, and highlights of school events. Schools are also encouraged to actively participate by contributing their own articles, creating a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences. This legacy of nearly seven decades reflects the publication’s enduring impact, serving as both a witness to the educational journey of India and a driving force behind positive change and community-building in schools nationwide.
