USO Executive Council

The Executive Council of the United Schools Organisation of India (USO) is a governing body comprising educational leaders committed to enhancing the quality and accessibility of education across the country. The Council steers the organization’s vision and initiatives, focusing on empowering students and educators through innovative programs, policy advocacy, and capacity-building efforts. With a shared dedication to fostering educational excellence, the Executive Council plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of education in India, ensuring that schools are well-equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.

Prof. P. J. Kurien
Honorary President, USO

Shri Pallath Joseph Kurien (born 31 March 1941) is an Indian politician, social worker and educationist. He was the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, till his retirement on 30 June 2018. A leader of the Indian National Congress party, Prof Kurien previously served as a Union Minister in the P. V. Narasimha Rao government and was a member of the Lok Sabha for six consecutive terms from 1980 to 1999. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2005. 

Prof. P. J. Kurien has been the President of USO since 2013 and helps set USO’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with our mission, and driving key initiatives. He also fosters collaboration and ensures effective governance across all USO activities on a national level.

Nikhil Sir

Mr. Nikhil Bimbrahw
Vice President, USO

Mr. Nikhil Bimbrahw is a seasoned Management and Technology Consultant with over 20 years of experience in the US, Canada, and India, holding leadership roles at Deloitte and Accenture. He specializes in Digital, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Management, and Project Management, helping companies make data-driven decisions.

Mr. Nikhil Bimbrahw holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Bangalore University (India) and an MBA from Vanderbilt University (USA). He is certified in PMP, CBIP, CDMP, and ITIL. Currently, he serves as the Global Delivery Head for Data, Analytics & AI at Genpact, New Delhi. Mr. Nikhil Bimbrahw ensures that USO leverages technology to its fullest potential, fostering innovation and efficiency.

Thyagrajan sir

Mr. K. V. Thyagarajan
Vice President, USO

Mr. Thyagarajan, Vice President of USO and Headmaster of Sri Sai Concept School, Kadapa District, was born in Thiruvatrivur near Chennai. He studied at S. V. University and Annamalai University. Beginning his career in Tirupathi, he organized science fairs and served as a convenor for the 1997 South Indian Science Fair. 

A USO Executive Council Member since 2006, Mr. Thyagarajan became Vice President in 2012 and organized a major environmental program for 200 teachers in Tirupathi. He helps execute our strategic initiatives, facilitating communication between different stakeholders, and stepping in to support the organization in the President’s absence, ensuring continuity.

Nina Jain

Ms. Nina Jain
Secretary General, USO

Ms. Nina Jain brings extensive international experience from prestigious organizations like the International Herald Tribune, Citibank, BNP Paribas, and the Business Development Bank of Canada. Her internship at UNESCO in Paris ignited her passion for NGO work. Raised in the Middle East and with an MBA from Paris, she now resides in India, where she is committed to enhancing Indian schools by applying her global expertise and diverse background to meet top international standards.

As the Secretary General, Ms. Jain plays a key role in overseeing the daily operations, coordinating initiatives, and ensuring the smooth implementation of USO’s strategic goals. She is the primary liaison between the Executive Council, member schools, and external stakeholders, driving collaboration and communication across all levels. Ms. Jain also ensures that policies and decisions are effectively executed to promote educational development nationwide.

Vijay Sir

Mr. Vijay Kumar Mehra
Treasurer, USO

Joining USO in February 1969, Vijay Kumar Mehra has been a cornerstone of the organization, meticulously managing its finances and ensuring seamless operations. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in several key areas of USO. His dedication and expertise have been crucial in sustaining and advancing USO’s mission, demonstrating his deep commitment to the organization’s success and integrity.

Mr. Mehra is responsible for managing the organization’s financial affairs, and ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial transactions. He oversee budgeting, accounting, financial planning, fund allocation and reporting, while ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to support USO’s educational programs and initiatives.

Mr. D. Bhanu Prakash
Member of USO Executive Council (Andhra Pradesh Chapter)

Mr. D. Bhanu Prakash (M.Sc., M.Phil, B.Ed) brings over 25 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, principal, zonal in-charge, and CEO.  Committed to an inclusive learning environment, he focuses on students’ academic and personal growth. In 2009, he founded Sree Vidyadhari E.M. High School in Kadapa, A.P, combining traditional and modern teaching methods for 21st-century.

Mr. S. Radha Krishna Reddy
Member of USO Executive Council (Andhra Pradesh Chapter)

Mr. S. Radha Krishna Reddy, with M.A. degrees, M.Ed, M.Phil., and P.G.D.I.R.P.M., has directed the USO Information Centre at Sri Gouri Sankar Junior College since 2000, advancing USO’s work in YSR Kadapa District. He has received national awards, including “Vidhya Ratnam,” and state honors such as the Best Teacher Award from Andhra Pradesh, and is active in environmental and educational programs.

Dr. Aswini Sarma
Member of USO Executive Council (Assam Chapter)

Dr. Aswini Sarma is the Executive Director of the Resource Centre for UN – NER, Regional Director of the Institute of UN Studies – NER, and Secretary General of UNESCO Association Guwahati and United Nations Association – Assam. He has attended UN and UNESCO conferences in New York, Paris, Seoul, Russia, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Delhi. Dr. Sarma received the Ambassador for Peace award in Seoul (2006) and the Best UNESCO Clubs Leaders Award in India.

Mr. Rahul Sinha
Member of USO Executive Council (Bihar Chapter)

Mr. Rahul Sinha, founder of Shining Souls Trust and Smart Move Academy, has over a decade of impact on rural education and social causes like health and women empowerment. Rahul has received over 20 prestigious awards, including Visionary Leader of the Year and Rashtriya Shiksha Gaurav Puraskar, recognizing his contributions to education and social welfare. His dedication drives positive change, creating opportunities for underserved communities.

Mr. Vikal Praveen Rao
Member of USO Executive Council (Chhattisgarh Chapter)

Mr. Vikal Pravin Rao is the Director and Principal of Sheela Thiessen Memorial High School in Rajnandgaon, CG. With 35 years in education, he has served the Government of Chhattisgarh in roles such as Lecturer, Principal, Assistant Director, and District Project Officer for 28 years. He now runs two educational institutions, continuing his commitment to advancing education.

Mr. J Ramesh
Member of USO Executive Council (Jharkhand Chapter)

Mr. Jambunathan Ramesh, M.A., B.Ed., has been an esteemed educator at Valley View School, Jamshedpur, since 1999. As HOD of Social Science, he promotes academic excellence and global awareness through USO and TERI Olympiads. Recognized as ‘Best Teacher’ by Dainik Bhaskar, he serves as Executive Assistant to the Principal, contributing to the school’s success.

Mr. P. A. Seethi
Member of USO Executive Council (Kerala Chapter)

Mr. P A Seethi, honored with the Best Teacher National Award in 2016 and the Kerala Best Teacher Award in 2012, is renowned for his innovative teaching and generosity. After retiring in 2018, he has continued his philanthropic work as president of the Seethi Sahib Memorial Trust and district president of the Muslim Cultural Foundation.

Mr. Rajendra R. Mishra
Member of USO Executive Council (Maharashtra Chapter)

Mr. Rajendra Mishra, with 37 years of experience, this leader transitioned from teaching Economics to serving as principal at Arvind Indo Public School, Central India Public School, and Shirinbai Neterwala School. They have led initiatives in accreditation, academic improvement, and technology integration, promoting student development and fostering inclusive school cultures.

Ms. Amita Sharma
Member of USO Executive Council (Punjab Chapter)

Ms. Amita Sharma, coordinator at DRV DAV Centenary Public School in Phillaur, Punjab, for 16 years, she participated in a British Council exchange program in London and received a National Award for Teaching from the Council for Educational Development (CED). His extensive experience and international exposure underscore his dedication to education and excellence.

Mr. S. Sunil Kumar
Member of USO Executive Council (Telangana Chapter)

Mr. S. Sunil Kumar, a dual post-graduate in humanities, has been associated with USO for over 30 years. Recognized by both the National and Telangana state governments for his contributions to senior citizens and welfare communities, he also serves as the Corporate General Manager at Shield Insurance Broking Solutions, Hyderabad. 

Dr. M. K. Sharma
Member of USO Executive Council (Uttar Pradesh Chapter)

Dr. M. K. Sharma, with M.A. degrees, a B.Ed, and a Journalism degree, he has over 29 years in education, including 19 as Principal at MTS Public School. He is Joint Secretary of Saharanpur Sahodaya and President of the National Advisory Board of All India Anti-crime-Anti Corruption Organization. His accolades include the Munshi Prem Chand Award and Innovative Academician Award (2019).
