Event Objective

Embrace Talent

Students are at the heart of this event, and the festival is a bustling hub of talent showcases and competitions. From On-the-Spot Painting Competitions to thought-provoking Declamation Contests in both Hindi and English, the festival celebrates the diversity of India’s linguistic and cultural landscape.

Dancing feet take center stage during the Solo Dance and Group Dance Competitions. The Creative Dress-Up is a unique initiative aimed at fostering patriotism among students. Additionally, the One-Act Play Competition brings thespians together for an opportunity for them to unveil their artistic flair and academic brilliance. And, this year, for the very first time, USO’s Flagship Conference and Festival is launching the Solo Singing Competition, and we can’t wait to hear mesmerizing voices fill the air!

Empower Minds

Beyond the creative expression, the General Conference aspect elevates this event to a higher purpose. Delegates, including teachers and students, come together to deliberate on issues of global and social concerns.

The power of education and knowledge-sharing fuels the conference and plenary sessions, creating an atmosphere of growth, enlightenment, and empowerment. The conference offers a unique opportunity for young minds to share and learn from the experiences and insights of each other. The power of collective learning and shared experiences is a force that knows no bounds. At USO’s Flagship Conference and Festival, we are looking forward to witness a magical symphony of minds, where all delegates came together to learn from one another, inspire each other, and grow collectively as a group!

Promote Social Responsibility

At the core of the event is the promotion of each individual’s social responsibility. The Peace March serves as a symbolic gesture of unity and solidarity, reminding everyone of the value of harmony and peace in our society. A sightseeing trip reinforces the significance of important places where culture and community come together in harmony, and will help the students and teachers celebrate the significance of important places and embrace the beauty of Meghalaya and Assam.

As students navigate the exciting journey of this four-day conference and festival, we understand that personal development for their future is also of paramount importance. To support them in this endeavour, we are thrilled to announce key workshops from professionals part of USO’s Flagship Conference and Festival.

The General Conference & All-India Schools Festival is USO’s flagship event. Held in a different Indian city, this 4-day event is attended by teachers and students from all over India. The event is divided into two parts:

  • Festival in which students compete in various competitions such as On-the-Spot Painting, Declamation (Hindi and English), Solo Dance, Solo Singing, Group Dance and One-Act Play.
  • Conference, where all delegates deliberate on issues of global and social concern, and come up with actionable suggestions – collectively as a group –  on how these can be implemented in their immediate community. Peace March, Personal Development Session, Campfire and  Sightseeing Trip are also part of the agenda.

USO’s flagship event is  being conducted since 1951. The main purpose of organising such an event is to help students gain confidence in a protected environment.  Additionally, all delegates – teachers and students alike – shall have an opportunity to share their views on matters of global and social concern, while recognising and respecting the perspective of others.

This event is instrumental in promoting valuable ideals such as ‘National Integration’, ‘Peace’, ‘Tolerance’, ‘We Are All Equal’, and so much more.  Not only will all delegates create a network, they will also benefit greatly by increasing awareness by interacting with the various participants nationally.  This shall greatly assist in each one taking one step closer to ‘Global Citizenship’.

The 61st General Conference & All-India Schools Festival shall be held from Monday, October 16, 2023 to Thursday, October 19, 2023.  Both days are inclusive, and delegates are required to attend all events.

The Event shall be held at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).

USTM is the first state-private university of science and technology in the entire North East region of India. USTM has been awarded the accreditation of ‘A’ Grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in 2021.
