General Conference & All-India Schools Festival

The General Conference & All-India Schools Festival is hosted in diverse cities across India, drawing students and teachers from all corners of the country. Spanning four days, the Festival showcases a range of individual and group competitions, such as On-the-Spot Painting, Declamation, Singing, Dance, Creative Dress-Up, One Act Play, and other exciting on-the-spot surprises. Simultaneously, the Conference is a crucial platform where educators and students can engage in discussions about various issues of social and global concern, exchange best practices, and explore innovative solutions to common challenges. This dynamic blend of activities not only celebrates talent and creativity but also fosters meaningful collaboration, contributing significantly to the advancement of education in India.

2023:
Meghalaya: The Scotland of the East

The 61st General Conference and All India Schools Festival was held at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya from October 16-19, 2023. The conference featured 11 competitions with 244 delegates from 10 states and 27 schools. With 69% female participation, the event highlighted inclusivity. Set against Meghalaya’s stunning backdrop, it blended educational and cultural experiences, making it a truly memorable occasion. Watch a video with highlights below:

2022:
Chennai, Tamil Nadu

USO’s milestone 60th General Conference and All India Schools Festival was held at RMK Residential School, Tamil Nadu from September 27-30, 2022.  The festival featured 11 competitions with 246 delegates from 16 states and 28 schools. The conference with various group discussions and a Peace March provided a rich blend of educational and cultural experiences, making it a fun and impactful occasion. 2019:
Phillaur, Punjab

USO’s 59th General Conference and All India Schools Festival was held at the DRV DAV Centenary Public School in Phillaur, Punjab, from October 3-6, 2019. The festival featured 11 competitions, attracting 159 delegates from 9 states and 23 schools, with strong female participation. The conference with daily morning yoga and a cleanliness drive, offered a rich and spirited experience that highlighted Punjab’s vibrant atmosphere. See the video below:

Inter Schools Fest

Our one-day inter-schools fest brings together schools from within and around the selected city for a vibrant and engaging event. The fest features a variety of competitions, including individual events like Painting and Speech, as well as group activities such as Dance and Drama. Additionally, a one-day Science Fair runs throughout the day, offering students a platform to explore and showcase their scientific innovations. Each year, the fest is based around a theme based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), blending creativity and awareness to create a memorable and impactful experience for all participants.

2024:
Pulivendula, A.P.

The USO Interschools Fest in Pulivendula was a vibrant event featuring 5 competitions, with 21 schools participating. A total of 288 delegates, including 39 teachers and 249 students, showcased their talents and creativity. Held at Loyola Degree College on January 30, 2024, a total of 19 prizes were awarded to celebrate the students’ exceptional achievements. The event highlighted the energy and dedication of both the participants and their schools. Below is a video with the highlights:

2023:
Guwahati, Assam

The USO Interschools Fest in Guwahati brought together 9 schools with 103 delegates, including 88 students and 15 teachers. Conducted under the aegis of the 61st General Conference & All-India Schools Festival, the fest was held at Don Bosco School on October 13, 2023. The day was filled with enthusiasm and lively competition, and showcased participants’ talents and creativity. Notably, 81.6% of the participants were girls, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusivity and empowerment. A short video is below:

2022:
Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The USO Chennai Interschools Fest of 2022 marked our return after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Conducted under the aegis of the 60th General Conference and All-India Schools Festival, the Fest was held at RMK Senior Secondary School on September 23, 2022, and was attended by 275 delegates, including 251 students and 24 teachers from 10 local schools. The fest celebrated talent, creativity, and the resilience of the educational community. The video of highlights is below:

Biosphere Reserve Champions

Biosphere Reserve Champions is a national competition with UNESCO, engaging students in grades 6-12 to protect and manage Earth’s biosphere reserves sustainably. The program raises environmental awareness on topics like climate change and biodiversity, while also encouraging students to educate their communities. It supports five key SDGs, promoting a sustainable future.

2023:
Teacher Workshop

 
The United Schools Organisation of India (USO) and CSIR-NIScPR held a one-day workshop on ‘Science Communication’ for science teachers in Delhi/NCR. The workshop focused on scientific innovations, combating misinformation, and fostering responsible citizenship, aiming to enhance scientific temperament among students by equipping teachers with insights from eminent scientists.

2022:
Science 101

Science 101, a national program by the United Schools Organisation of India (USO) in collaboration with CSIR-NIScPR, featured 12 monthly webinars for students in grades 8-10 and interested teachers. Held on the last Friday of each month, the series aimed to boost scientific temper by highlighting real-life applications of science, with sessions led by experienced scientists to inspire students toward careers in science.
