H2Ooooh!

WATERWISE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN OF INDIA

H2Ooooh! is truly a unique project!  It is our aim to encourage Indian youngsters  of ages 5 – 14 years, to creatively contribute to highlight global water issues.  Our purpose is to help increase awareness about its limited availability, its sustainable use, its conservation, its exploitation and much more.  We want to enable the students to share their own experiences and proposals for the protection of the environment.

A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT THE PROJECT

This initiative was initially conceived in Italy, through the efforts and creativity of UNESCO – Vienna Office, Gruppo Alcuni and RAI Fiction (Italian National TV).  The primary reason for this project was to increase public awareness – particularly amongst the youth aged 6 – 14 years –  on themes related to water issues.

AIM OF THE PROJECT

Through this project, we intend to develop a series of animated cartoon videos, focussing on the issue of water conservation and its sustainable use.  After providing training to selected students, the storyboards of the cartoon shall be selected, and converted into an animated film.

PHASE - I
October & November 2020

WHAT WAS PHASE-I ALL ABOUT?

Post school registration, students of Std 1-8 viewed videos in English and Hindi (translated by UNESCO – New Delhi Office).  This was followed by class discussions using DoWs (Drops of Water) – a resource for teachers on various water-related topics relating to the videos.  It ended with a quiz based on the video seen, class discussions, key takeaways etc.  Each class viewed 5 videos. (Watch a video to see how The Punjab Public School, Nabha conducted Phase I at their school).

PHASE - II

WHAT DID THE STUDENTS DO IN PHASE - II?

Students from Std. 4-8 from regsitered schools, who had taken part in Phase I were invited to participate in the Qualifier Round, and then submit their art to analyze their creativity.

Selected students were then invited to register for the training and competition round.  Online Training was provided by Vizdem – an online learning platform of Toonz Media Group.

H2Ooooh was a great experience for me. I learnt many things from this workshop. Joining this workshop even opened up a new career choice for me that I hadn’t even thought about. I never thought that I would enjoy creating a story or character. It was fun too! My favourite session was the character designing session. I would like to tell that this was a great opportunity for me and I enjoyed it.

H2Ooooh animation classes were a great opportunity to learn how to make stories in a good way. I learnt how to make storyboards, how to draw characters for a story from different angles, how large should be the area of any storyboard and many more informative things.  The sessions were well interactive and engaging, we were supposed to make a story of our own after the sessions came to an end.  We were given enough time to explore our creativity and imagination and then compose the story.  I liked all the sessions and my overall experience was wonderful.

Let’s Hear From the Teachers

Congratulations…..I am happy to see the way this program is carried forward.  The initiative is so pious and well managed.
